CW's favorite links
Although I'm still a relative newbie to the Web, I have found a few sites that I like to visit regularly. Check out a few of them for yourself:
Trifecta Recording / Trifecta Records. Okay, shameless self-promotion, I'll admit. You know, we do have some really great music on Trifecta Records; why not take a look? And if you're looi to share your music with the world, why not book a studio that specializes in new talent?
Back of a Car: the official BIG STAR fanzine online. Big Star, fronted by former Box Top and alternative godfather Alex Chilton, didn't get the attention they deserved back in the 70s. Now, REM's Michael Stipe names them as a major early influence, and their song, In the Street, is the opening theme for Fox's That 70s Show. My friend Judith has built a great tribute site and an excellnet magazine. Check them both out.
Billboard Magazine Online. Y'know the Top Forty? These guys tell the radio stations what songs ARE the Top Forty. Arguably the most concise music newspaper in America, Billboard gives in-depth music news from who's got a new album coming out, to which record company bought out which other, to who's suing whom, to the progress of copyright laws in Congress. Also has a great search engine for upcoming album releases. Updated daily, and truly indispensible.
The Spanish Beatles Page. Anyone who knows me, either personally or by reputation, knows that I am absolutely BONKERS over the Beatles. The Spanish Beatles Page is by far the best Beatles site I've ever seen. If you're also a Beatles addict, you might want to check out these sites as well:
MPL Communications. Paul McCartney's publishing firm, and the only truly official Beatles site.
Abbey Road Studios. The Beatles recorded all but one album here, and that's just scratching the surface. The music history just seems to drip from Abbey Road.
My personal Beatles collection. Over 1600 LPs, CDs, tapes, singles, videos, & books. 'Nuff said.
